To some degree I feel as if no one is reading these random thoughts of mine. Probably mostly true since I can see how many read them. Right now I wanted to go on to say I'm having a hard time with my book the Star of Zephyria. I know where it is supposed to go and I know how I want it to end. I am currently writing the ending even though I have more in the middle I need to put in, but the biggest problem I am having is that I'm at 30k words right now without adding in the ending. I am sure if I add in the ending, which is mostly written, I will have 40k...maybe 50k. My goal has always been 80k because those are long enough books to keep someone engaged and short enough it doesn't feel like you're being dragged along. I have enough of those books. What I need is more subplots I think...things to make my characters more real? More things to plump up the writing. I am a pantser writer so I might add those in once I'm done with the whole main plot. I'm not sure yet. It's a good book, and I'm very proud of it. Subplots can help a book in a lot of ways, it keeps them from guessing on who the bad guy is, it distracts them, sometimes it makes you more connected to the characters. So I know it's important, but I'm not very good at it. My proofreader editor suggested that I draw from books I love, see what their subplots were, and how much I liked them. I might have to go deep diving into some of the books I love to see what it is that I need to do. Or just brainstorm.
